DJ Special K was born in Miami Florida and spent his childhood moving back and forth between the United States and The UK. At 16 DJ Special K joined a local alternative garage band playing the synthesized keyboard and shortly after began DJing at all the local house parties gaining quite a reputation as the life of the party. These early beats were mainly 80’s mash ups of artists like 2 Live Crew, Run DMC, and the other popular hip hop artists. While DJ Special K started in the House music arena, his love of Jazz and its deep resonating soulful sounds, he soon turned towards Drum and Base. In the early 90’s DJ Special K was offered his first residency in Fort Lauderdale at The Edge, quickly picking up other residencies in New York at Boiler Room and Lime Light. When he wasn’t playing at a club DJ Special K stepped into the studio playing the synthesized keyboard with Alternative bands. He played as many clubs as he could, marketing himself and growing his fan base, learning the ropes of the Industry. By 1992 DJ Special K knew this would be his life long career as, with an invitation from DJ Icey, he was invited to play at the Zen parties, as well as the Dune parties.This was an explosive time for Hip-Hop as well as Electronic Music and DJ Special K had the opportunity to play with many iconic artists of the times such as Magic Money, The Dream Team from the UK, D. Cruz, Motley and Rock Fly Circular Square, Danny Blitz of the Metal Heads, Spikey T, Top Cat, Ritual, Rabbit in The Moon, 2 Live Crew, MC Sha Dee, Exotic E, DMZ, Mix Master Mike, Quebert, DJ Jazzy Jeff, and Robin Fox. By the Mid 90’s the Electronic Music scene had exploded and DJ Special K took full advantage of the opportunity, and was well on his way to becoming the Internationally Recognized DJ that he is today. DJ Special K had continued to be an avid traveler and took advantage of his worldly knowledge and began touring the huge European Electronic Music Festivals such as the annual Love Parade and World Of Drum and Bass, building his fan base exponentially. While in the United States he played in landmark clubs such as Plus 5 and Churchhills, and toured the United States Electronic Music circuit as well. As the 90’s came to a close DJ Special K was dabbling with radio stations in the Miami area, 90.9 FM WKRFT, playing local artists that commercial radio stations refused to play, Power 96 FM a live mike late night hip hop station, and 93.1 FM. He continued his hectic touring schedule as well, and worked on several Record Deals. By 2000 Special K was an international success and the DJ’s he had looked up to when he began were now close friends who respected him as an artist and often ask him to partner with him on projects. He went on tour with his idol Soul Slinger (founder of Pendulum and High Contrast) and realized he had truly arrived. The new millennium has brought many prestigious opportunities to DJ Special K such as playing with Congo Natty, working on the Spider Man 3 soundtrack, and even playing with U2 in Rio Brazil for the Save the Rain Forest event. Born on December 30th, 1982 in Dominican Republic as Jonathan Diaz, DJ Sogma is a Hardstyle DJ/Producer and Radio Host residing now in the NYC metro area. He began DJing in 1996 with 2 Sony Playstations and a 4 channel Gemini mixer. In only a matter of months, he quickly mastered the art of mixing and in 2001, Sogma explored the beautiful world of hard dance music through influential artists such as Scot Project, DJ Isaac, Derb, Kai Tracid, ASYS, DJ Vortex and many others.

Sogma, which stands for State Of Great Mental Abstraction, is a natural state of musical transformation that he embarks while in the act of DJing. His often crazy and erratic behavior behind the decks offers a visual experience that captivates the audience and leaves them in a state of perplexion. Sogma adds, "Most people think I'm on drugs while DJing, and my answer to them is YES! Music is my drug and my only drug!" Knowing that being just a DJ won't be enough, he ventured into production in 2003.

After much frustration and dedication, Sogma finally completed his very first hardstyle production called "Clockwork" in July of 2008. In the following months, he grew more confident in production and launched two more tracks (Suicide and Scorponok). Sogma's style consists of aggressive in your face beats that are often followed by a blissful melody that ends at the gates of hell before the track's end. His main goal is to desensitize the western hemisphere to the sounds of hardstyle and make the hard scene dominate worldwide.

In total, DJG had 5 releases in his first year as a dubstep producer.
DJG's production style is richly melodic, emotive while full of groove and energy. Portland, Maine native DJ and producer Selector Moldy is operating on the frontline. A veteran DJ of over a decade, in 1998 he pioneered 24/7 internet radio with Factory188.com in Portland, Maine.* In Boston, he cut his teeth playing dubs of his original productions at the mainstay Elements; in New York City, he held residencies at the Offshore Recordings’ party Push and staple Konkrete Jungle.* He is a frequent guest at New York's legendary monthly Dub War. Organizing a series of parties in Manhattan called Lurkery, he introduced the Big Apple to talent from the UK like DJ Pinch, DJ Distance and Headhunter as well as domestic talent like Grapes and Venez.* Each event garnered an editor's pick in Time Out New York.* Bringing it full circle in 2008, he established the first regular night dedicated to the dubstep sound in Portland, Maine: Heavy Pressure Night.

Between gigs he keeps his nose to the grindstone in the studio, recognized internationally as one of the most prominent American dubstep producers. In 2006 he formed Heavy Pressure Recordings.* His Windmill Dub/The Black Forest (Part 1) was released in December 2006, followed by Grapes' The Sheep of Lords/Rabbit Stew in May 2007.* Moldy's highly anticipated Cod & Chips/Numbers Dub will see vinyl release in 2008, distributed worldwide by Load Media. Released March 2008 on UK label ‘Earwax, Glory/Glory Dub (EAR006), featuring Brooklyn based Dub War resident MC Juakali, has been smacking dance-floors in the US and UK alike, with support from UK DJs Pinch, Distance, Joker, Peverelist, Plastician, Cyrus, and Baltimore’s DJ Joe Nice. 10 years ago -when drum n'bass was very near it's zenith in popularity, Kevin Sawka was playing in prominent rock bands in Seattle (grunge was huge)- someone played him an LTJ Bukem track, and, as he says, It scorched my brain. I dropped everything, and focused solely on how to recreate that on the drums.He heard Dieselboy as well. More brain-scorching. He started writing utilizing the style, and honed his new concepts and approach to the drums. He debuted the new sound in the band 94th Street, a band years ahead of it's time: a pop drum'n'bass band with a sense of humor.The word about Kevin was out: there's a drummer in Seattle who's performing jungle and drum'n'bass beats on acoustic drums, what was once thought to be absolutely impossible by any human. And here Kevin was making it look easy -like watching a jazz drummer who's said to play like water flowing,Kevin instead was doling out insanely syncopated d'n'b.

Since emerging in 1995, internet radio has revolutionized the broadcasting industry, bringing opportunities to new ideas and new music that otherwise would have no mass outlet. Many DJs and producers of emergent underground styles of music have embraced webcasting over the years by starting up internet radio stations and establishing shows in order to gain exposure for their sound and promote themselves as artists.
For dubstep, one such station is Dubstep.fm. At the helm is Dubstep DJ and internet radio champion, DopeLabs.
